Beginnings

Stir the Fire Ministries International began in Ndola, Zambia was founded in 2000 when God gave John and Judith Kiseba the passion to adopt six orphaned children they found living on trash as their daily food in Twapia. It was a big challenge and decision to make because they had seven of their own biological children. God made it clear to both of them that He wanted them to adopt those six children and that He was going to provide for them. After much prayer and fasting, they agreed to adopt the six children through social welfare who also doubted their capacity.

Soon, John and Judith began to notice the many orphans in their surrounding area. With the promise to feed the orphan kids 1 meal a day, they made arrangements with relatives and other villagers to give the children a place to sleep. They operated on donated funds, and often, there weren’t enough funds to be able to feed the kids every day. By the grace of God, the ministry has grown to now more than 500 children under their care.

Why is the Feeding Program So Important?

Nutrition is crucial for physical, mental, and psychological development of children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years. Attending classes hungry severely impacts children’s abilities to learn, to thrive, and to realize their full potentials. Benefits of the school feeding children includes alleviating hunger, reducing micronutrient deficiency, and anemia. There are also many of our children—particularly girls&emdash;who simply do not go to school because their families need them to help in fields or perform domestic duties. At Stir the Fire Ministries, we are proud with our partners and supporters whose aims are to improve our feeding program by ensuring that every child has the opportunity to receive a healthy, nutritious meal in our school.
